Day 5: Xi’an

Xi’an boasts one of the world's great archeological treasures thanks to a group of peasants who discovered them in 1974 while digging for a well. The partially excavated mausoleum of the Emperor Qin Shi Huangdi (259-210 B.C.), the first emperor who unified China's divided territories into one nation, is the size of a city and will take archeologists many more years to completely unearth. During a full day of sightseeing, see thousands of life-size terra cotta soldiers, no two alike, and their horses, chariots and weapons, standing in formation. Your sightseeing continues with the city’s Big Wild Goose Pagoda and Bell Tower, from where you can see all four of Xian's city gates. (B, L, D)

In the afternoon, fly Southwest to the capital of Yunnan Province, Kunming. Enjoy the remainer of the day at leisure upon arrival. (B, L, D)

Day 7: Kunming

Embark on a full day sightseeing tour to Yunnan Province’s landmark, the Stone Forest, a-two hundred-acre display of limestone pillars, carved individually by nature. Explore the pathways meandering through the dramatic gray landscape, dotted with peaks and reflecting pools. (B, L, D)

Day 8: Kunming - Dali

Fly to Dali, home to the Bai people known for their friendliness. Dali is a historic and well preserved city situated on the banks of Erhai Lake. Enjoy the scenic beauty as you cruise the lake and visit Butterfly Spring, and  the Three Pagodas, considered among the region’s oldest. (B, L, D)

Day 9: Dali - Lijiang

Continue your journey by motorcoach to Lijiang, situated near the Tibetan border in a beautiful valley surrounded by a stunning mountain backdrop. Founded in 1126, the ancient city of Lijiang appears much as it did during the Ming and Qing Dynasties. Its unique preservation is recognized by UNESCO as World Cultural Heritage Site. The area is also known as the home of the Naxi minority culture, originally descended from Tibetan nomads. (B, L, D)
