Day 1: USA - Beijing

Sit back and relax on your comfortable jetliner to the capital of China, Beijing. 

Day 2: Beijing

Upon arrival, you will be met and transferred to your hotel.

 

Day 3: Beijing

In the morning tour the Forbidden City,

a huge complex of palaces, pavilions, courtyards and gardens. Walk through nearby Tian’anmen Square, site of many history-making events. Tonight, enjoy a Peking Duck dinner, the famous speciality dish of Beijing. (B, L, D)

Day 4: Beijing

A must see to all visitors to China, a full-day excursion takes you 40 miles north of Beijing to the Great Wall, an extraordinary 4,000-mile-long fortification built to hold back barbarian invaders. A walk along a section

of this enormous and serpentine wall is a not-to-be-missed experience. This afternoon, a short drive on a road lined with trees and massive statues leads you to the lavish underground palaces that are the Ming Tombs, one of China’s most interesting historic sites. (B, L, D)

 Day 5: Beijing - Xi’an

Enjoy a morning tour of Beijing’s historic Hutong District by rickshaw. This afternoon, fly to Xi’an. (B, L, D)

Day 6: Xi’an

One of the world's greatest archeological treasures is located in Xi’an. The partially excavated mausoleum of the Emperor Qin Shi Huangdi (259-210 B.C.), the emperor who first unified China's divided territories into one nation, was discovered by a group of peasants in 1974 who were digging a well. It is the size of a city and will take archeologists many  years to completely unearth.  During a full day of sightseeing, see the thousands of life-size terra cotta soldiers and their horses that have made this site famous. Day 7: Xi’an - Yichang - Yangtze Cruise

Fly today to Yichang and transfer to your Victoria Cruise ship on the Yangtze. (B, L, D)

 

Day 8: Yangtze Cruise - Three Gorges Dam

Visit the massive construction site of the Three Gorges Dam. Traverse the locks at Sandouping then cruise the Xiling Gorge one of the most breathtaking of the 120-mile long Three Gorges. (B, L, D)

 

Day 9: Yangtze Cruise - Lesser Three Gorges

Cruise the spectacular Lesser Three Gorges on the Daning River by sampan. Return to your cruise ship and traverse the Wu Gorge, noted for its mist shrouded Twelve Peaks,  and the Qutang Gorges, the shortest and narrowest of the Three Gorges.  (B, L, D)

 

Day 10: Yangtze Cruise – Wanxian or White Emperor City

The water level will determine whether today you will travel to Wanxian or White Emperor City. (B, L, D)

 

Day 11: Yangtze Cruise - Chongqing -Shanghai

Upon arrival in Chongqing your journey continues with a flight to Shanghai, the “Paris of the East”. Remainder of the day is free at leisure. (B, L, D)

 

Day 12: Shanghai

Your morning tour includes a visit to the Bund, a waterfront promenade along the Huangpu River, the Old Town and the serene Yu Yuan Gardens. After lunch, stop at the Children’s Palace, where talented young students spend after school activities studying dance, music, martial arts and mathematics. In the evening, experience the famous Shanghai Acrobats. (B, L, D)

Day 13: Shanghai - Suzhou

Full day excursion to Suzhou, an ancient city with a history stretching back more than 2500 years. Prior to arriving in Suzhou we will take you on a short drive to the charming city of Tongli and then continue by boat to Suzhou via the Grand Canal. Upon arrival in Suzhou visit the Embroidery Institute to see artists at work. Return earlly this evening by motorcoach to Shanghai. (B, L, D)

 

Day 14: Shanghai - USA

Transfer to the airport for your return flight to US. (B)

Day 2: Hong Kong

This morning, an introduction to Hong Kong begins with a visit to Aberdeen Fishing Village and a sampan ride among the fishing fleet. Continue to Repulse Bay and Stanley Market where prices are a fraction of those in town. A ride on the Peak Tram funicular railway completes your tour with a spectacular view of Hong Kong Island and the Kowloon Peninsula. (B)

 

Day 3: Hong Kong

Enjoy a free day at leisure for to explore the city at your own pace. In the evening venture to Lamma Island for seafood farewell dinner cruise. Depart on a cocktail cruise through bustling Victoria Harbor across the channel to Lamma Island. Dinner is at the picturesque Sok Ku Wan Fishing village, where the restaurants sit on stilts side by side along the waterfront. A delicious 8-course seafood dinner will be served. Return to the hotel by junk later in the evening admiring the glittering lights along both sides of the harbor. (B, D)
